At least 29 people died and three were injured after a fire broke out in a 16-storey building in central Istanbul, Turkey, BBC reported on Tuesday.

“Although the fire was put out thanks to the firefighters’ response, 25 people lost their lives in the incident. Three people are in the hospital with severe injuries,” Istanbul governor Davut Gul’s office posted sooner.

The fire originated while renovations were underway at a nightclub that occupies two floors below the aforementioned building in the Besiktas district. The cause of the incident is currently under investigation.
