The leaders of the coup in Gabon declared on Wednesday they unanimously agreed to name General Bris Oligui Nguema the country’s “transitional president.”
Earlier in the day, members of the Republican Guard, members of the president’s Praetorian Guard, army soldiers, and police officers in Gabon said they seized power in the African country after elections and put President Ali Bongo Ondimba under house arrest.
