Hawaii Governor Josh Green confirmed that the death toll in the Maui County wildfires has now reached 101. However, with only about a third of the affected area searched, the total number of fatalities could rise significantly, he said.
“Over the course of the next several weeks, we’ll be able to confirm who passed away. But it’s gonna be very difficult going,” Green told CNN.
