Jordan braces for unprecedented heat wave

Jordanian authorities are preparing for an unprecedented heat wave that will hit the country in the forthcoming days, with temperatures surpassing the average temperatures of this season by 9 to 10°C, and which will reach 50°C.

Authorities are cautioning about decreased visibility due to sandstorms expected in some areas.

They call for protecting children and the elderly and fragile from the sun’s rays at the peak, and to avoid lighting any fires outside, given the risk of fires.

The authorities have likewise decided to suspend classes in universities, and the reduction of working hours outside, stopping work between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., for the next three days.
