Mr. Mohamed Ben Ayed, Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, received on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the Ministry’s headquarters, Mr. Raila Amolo Odinga, former Prime Minister of the Republic of Kenya and candidate for the post of Chairperson of the African Union Commission, and his accompanying delegation, read s press release by the Foreign Ministry.
The Secretary of State praised the distinguished bilateral relations between the Republic of Tunisia and the Republic of Kenya and the keenness of the two countries to develop them in various fields, as well as their involvement in the various structures of the African Union to promote the Joint African Action in order to achieve the sustainable development goals of the 2030 and 2063 agendas and strengthen the position of the Union at the African and international levels, as stipulated in the Constitutive Charter.
For his part, the Kenyan candidate for the post of AU Commission Chairperson expressed his pleasure to be in Tunisia and asked the Secretary of State to convey his greetings to His Excellency the President of the Republic.
In addition to praising the level of friendship and cooperation relations between Tunisia and Kenya, the Kenyan official reviewed his country’s vision to develop the Joint African Action to gain bets and overcome challenges, adding that the continent has great potential and huge resources that must be exploited and directed to the benefit of the African peoples, especially the youth, adds the source.
