Kiev says no humanitarian corridor from Mariupol

Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister, Iryna Vereshchuk said on Monday there was no agreement between Kiev and Moscow to establish a humanitarian corridor in Mariupol to evacuate people from the Azovstal steel plant. She stated that a corridor announced “unilaterally” does not guarantee safety.

The deputy prime minister added that organizing humanitarian corridors requires two parties to agree on their opening, emphasizing that no such agreement was made today. Therefore, an appeal was sent to United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to be the “initiator and guarantor of the humanitarian corridor from Azovstal for civilians.”
