Libya gets rid of its illegal immigrants under pretext they carry contagious diseases

Libyan authorities decided to oust dozens of Egyptians and Africans because they were contaminated with infectious diseases, such as AIDS and hepatitis.

The Department for Combating Illegal Immigration of the city of Benghazi reported the transfer of about 78 illegal immigrants of Egyptian nationality from the Qanfudhah accommodation and deportation centre to the Amsaed border crossing, in preparation for their deportation to their country, adding that among them were two who were discovered to be infected with contagious diseases such as AIDS and hepatitis.

In the same context, the authorities declared the expulsion of 27 illegal immigrants who entered Libyan territory illegally, including 14 Egyptians, specifying that they were expelled through the Amsaad border post, in addition to 13 Sudanese and Chadians who were handed over to the Qunfudha shelter, to be deported to their country.

Libyan authorities disclosed that the Agency to Combat Illegal Immigration expelled 87 people suffering from hepatitis and AIDS, including 17 Sudanese, 62 Chadians, two Egyptians, two Bengalis and four Ethiopians.

Two months ago, the Libyan authorities decided to expel 600 Egyptians who entered their territory illegally.
