Morocco: Mohammed V Airport in Top 9 in World and best in Africa, at all levels

By:

On March 11, 2024, Airports Council International (ACI) World published the 2023 Airport Service Quality (ASQ/ACI) rankings, a highly anticipated report among tour operators and tourists globally. This ranking is especially noteworthy as it reflects the opinions of passengers who have experienced the quality of airport services and infrastructure worldwide. Exceptionally, Morocco’s Mohammed V airport in Casablanca has arisen as the leading airport in Africa and ranks among the top 9 globally.

The annual ranking, conducted in collaboration with Amadeus, evaluates a broad spectrum of factors contributing to the passenger experience. These aspects include the range of services available, facility cleanliness, wait times, and staff courtesy, with the primary purpose of measuring passenger satisfaction, understanding their expectations, and facilitating comparisons among airports partaking in the ASQ program.

The 2023 ASQ survey, drawing on feedback from about 600,000 passengers at over 400 airports worldwide, reveals that last year, over half of all global travellers passed through an ASQ-affiliated airport. The survey categorizes airports based on size and region and also evaluates factors such as the dedication of airport staff, ease of airport journey, overall niceness, and cleanliness of airports for departures. For arrivals, it highlights the best airports globally.

According to the latest ASQ Awards reported by ACI World and reported by Air Journal, 9 airports across various regions have excelled in the 5 departure categories. For the African continent, Casablanca’s Mohammed V airport has been distinguished as the best in all 5 categories, showcasing its outstanding service and infrastructure quality.

1. Best airport in Africa in its category

2. The airport with the most helpful staff in Africa

3. The airport in Africa where the route is the easiest

4. The nicest airport in Africa

5. The cleanest airport in Africa

In Asia-Pacific, Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport (Indonesia) and Yogyakarta International Airport (Indonesia) take pride of place.

In Europe, the Adnan Menderes airports in Izmir (Turkey) and Rome-Fiumicino (Italy) shine the most.

The international airport of Guayaquil (Ecuador) towers in Latin America.

In the Middle East, Salalah Airport (Oman) was popular.

In North America, Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (United States) and Gerald R. Ford International Airport (United States) are ahead of the others.
