Rafael Nadal won the 2022 Australian Open men’s tennis tournament on Sunday after beating Daniil Medvedev 3-2.
The Russian took the first two sets 6-2, 7-6 (7-5), though Nadal recovered from the deficit, taking the two subsequent sets 6-4, 6-4. In the tenth game of the fifth set, Nadal served for the title, but Medvedev converted a breakpoint and briefly held him off. The Spaniard then went on to claim the next two games and the final set 7-5, taking home the 21st Grand Slam of his career.
