Pro-Palestinian demonstrations banned in France: decision of administrative court

The Paris Administrative Court confirmed the prohibition on pro-Palestinian demonstrations in France, emphasising a context of extreme violence and verified risks to public order. This decision follows a directive from Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin banning these protests due to their potential to generate unrest.

The police headquarters had already banned a scheduled demonstration at Place de la République, mentioning concerns about speech inciting racial hatred and anti-Jewish acts.

Several associations had attempted to challenge this ban in court, but the judge ruled in favour of the ban, affirming that the restrictions inflicted by the police prefect did not violate the freedoms of expression, assembly and demonstration.

Despite this decision, some pro-Palestinian activists remain determined to make their voices heard, seeking other ways to voice their support for the Palestinian people.
