Stopping wages of all members of “HAICA” Council beginning January

Hisham Al-Senussi, a member of the Council of the High Independent Authority for Audiovisual Communication (HAICA), has disclosed that the authority received an email from the Secretary General of the Government, informing them of the suspension of wages for all council members beginning in January. This decision is not expected to affect HAICA employees but will affect council members.

Speaking to the TAP,Al-Senussi criticized the move, viewing it as a form of “tax” inflicted on HAICA due to its defence of independence and non-involvement in political affiliations. He argued that the suspension of wages is an “illegal” measure, highlighting HAICA’s independence from government influence. Al-Senussi suggested that either a new council should be set under a new law for HAICA, or the current council should be dissolved and replaced, following the existing legal framework.
