Climate: 2024 will be even hotter than 2023

Experts, including climatologist Andrew Dessler from the University of Texas, have revealed that 2024 could witness a more notable increase in temperatures compared to 2023, potentially making it the hottest year in history. The year 2023 has already been characterised by rising temperatures and extreme weather events globally.

According to the Axios website, prediction for 2024 adds weight to concerns about speeding global warming, with potential consequences such as rising temperatures and drier climates, which could contribute to an increased risk of forest fires. Since the beginning of the industrial age, global temperatures have already risen by 1.1 degrees Celsius. Scientists caution that surpassing this limit may lead the Earth into a hot state that could render it unsuitable for life.
