United States President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence met for the first time since the violent demonstrations by Trump’s supporters on January 6. The relationships between the two have been strained since Trump denounced Pence of lacking “courage” to overturn the result of the presidential election.
According to a senior administration official, “the two had a good conversation, discussing the week ahead and reflecting on the last four years of the administration’s work and accomplishments. They reemphasised that those who broke the law and attacked the Capitol last week do not represent the America first movement backed by 75 million Americans and pledged to continue the work on behalf of the country for the remainder of their term.”
