Tunisia has recorded 96 reported shigellosis cases, director of primary health protection at the Ministry of Health Ahlem Gzara said Thursday.
The ministry has begun an exploration to collect samples from food and water to verify the causes of the bacteria.
In a statement to TAP, Gzara said the ministry has recommended to laboratories to report the cases discovered. Infants, children and adults have been affected by this bacterium, the same source added. Six children were admitted to ICU after this infection whose symptoms are acute diahrea, stomach pain, fever and vomiting, said Gzara.
The directorate of school and university medicine has begun awareness sessions in schools, the same source also said.
