The Director General of Forests at the Ministry of Agriculture was present this Thursday at the headquarters of the governorate of Béja, to examine the subjects and problems inherent to forest management in the region, within the framework of several sustainable development projects and ecological tourism.
He confirmed, on occasion, that the forest area is the target of several attacks, such as blazes. He added that 96% of forest fires are intentionally caused by humans. He specified that these forest fires have ravaged almost 5,300 hectares this year, and nearly 56,000 hectares since 2016.
