Tunisia-Activities of Egyptian-Tunisian Cultural Year launch in Tunisia

As part of the activities of the joint Egyptian-Tunisian Culture Year 2021-2022 in the City of Culture, the first events hosted by Tunisia have been launched.

The events began with the opening ceremony of the Egyptian Cinema Days in Tunisia.

Ehab Fahmy, Egypt’s ambassador to Tunisia, confirmed that the Egyptian cinema week in Tunisia comes in implementation of the agreement between Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Tunisian President Kais Saied during the latter’s historic visit to Cairo last April.

The ceremony was attended by the Tunisian Minister of Cultural Affairs, a group of ambassadors, and a group of Tunisian officials, artists and creators.

Fahmy stated that this event comes as part of a series of high-end and diverse artistic and literary activities that are being implemented with the Tunisian Ministry of Cultural Affairs in order to strengthen the existing brotherly ties between the two countries and peoples in light of their common cultural and civilizational legacies, which, of course, reflects the great interest of the political leadership in both countries in the value of culture and creativity.

Fahmy added that cinema is one of the important tools that not only shapes the conscience of youth and their cultural identity, but also contributes to immunizing them against the dangers of extremism and terrorism. This comes in addition to its great impact in preserving the collective memory of humanity and documenting historical events.

The Tunisian Minister of Cultural Affairs congratulated Egypt for winning several awards in the last edition of the Carthage Film Festival.
