The central anti-drug brigade of the National Guard in Laouina has apprehended an attorney and one of her acquaintances for their alleged involvement in drug trafficking. According to information provided by the court’s prosecution of the first instance in Tunis, the events happened last night.
The intelligence obtained by the anti-drugs squad initially raised suspicions regarding a young man in the centre of the capital holding a significant quantity of drugs planned for sale. The police arrested him last night in one of the districts of the Medina of Tunis, where they found more than twenty plates of cannabis (“zatla”).
Upon further investigation, it was disclosed that the young man was in a relationship with a lawyer. With the coordination of the prosecution, a raid was carried out in the lawyer’s apartment, where a thorough search led to the seizure of more than thirty plates of cannabis.
After consulting the prosecution, it was decided to keep the lawyer and the young man in custody to continue investigations and identify other network members involved.
