Tunisia – Arrival of batches of edible sugar from Algeria

The Sakiet Sidi Youssef border post registered the passage of several batches of edible sugar from Algeria. This, was part of the implementation of an accord between Tunisia and Algeria, according to sources from the Tunisian Trade Office.

Several Algerian trucks have crossed the borders to deliver the initial shipment of sugar as part of a Tunisian-Algerian trade agreement. This agreement outlines the provision of 12,000 tonnes of sugar to Tunisia at a rate of 1,200 tonnes per day. Following this, a second batch of 9,000 tonnes is expected to be delivered in the upcoming week. Sources also indicate the signing of another agreement with Algeria, ensuring the supply of Algerian sugar to Tunisia throughout the year 2024. This agreement is crucial for maintaining a steady supply of this essential commodity to meet the needs of the national market.
