Elected president of the Tunisian Association of Democratic Women (ATFD) Yousra Fraoues asked interim President Mohamed Ennaceur to cordially approve a draft law on equal inheritance between men and women.
According to the TAP, Yousra Fraoues said, “Equal inheritance will positively enhance the official position of women in society and properly promote gender equality in decision-making,” she said, adding the rate of poverty and unemployment have increased in recent years in Tunisia.
Yousra Fraoues enthusiastically promoted the practical use of Article 18 of the organic budget law which specifies the state budget is based on the policy of gender equality by giving funding to municipalities for the installation of shelters for women who are victims of violence and to improve tremendously the local transport of women farmhands, reported TAP agency.
