Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, president of the finance committee Haikel Mekki affirmed that the finance minister gave false data to the commission. He stressed said the minister indicated to the members of the commission that there is a preliminary agreement with the central bank of Tunisia concerning the funding the budget whereas the commission had previously rejected to pass the amending finance bill to a plenary session because the BCT had declined to finance the budget deficit.
Mekki added that the BCT does not decline to finance the budget but asks for the financing of the 2020 budget deficit to be authorized by the parliament. Our speaker considered that what the Minister of Finance had done was paralogism, accentuating that the parties concerned must shoulder their responsibilities.
Also, Mekki pointed out that the amending finance bill can no longer be referred to the finance committee, stating that it is up to the MPs to decide whether this bill will pass or not, during the plenary session.
