Tunisia-[Audio] Tunis ranked first among hottest cities in Africa

 

Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, Engineer Forecaster Mehrez Ghannouchi at the national institute for meteorology” NIM “ announced that  Tunis ranked first in Africa in the ranking of hottest cities, in addition, six hottest cities in Africa were Tunisian.

Bizerte recorded 48.9 ° C, thus surpassing its previous record of 45.4 ° C, recorded on August 9, 1999.

In Tunis, the new record is 48.9 ° C, exceeding the former record of 46.8 ° C registered on August 1, 1982.

 

In Monastir, the maximum temperature attained 46.7 ° C, exceeding the previous record of 40.6 ° C reported on 05/08/2012.

 

In Zaghouan, the temperature reached 47.5 ° C, topping the previous record of 46.5 ° C recorded on July 8, 1970.

Our speaker added that  Beja, Bizerte and Tunis ranked fourth among the hottest cities in the world, with a temperature reaching 48.9 ° C.

 Concerning the forecast for tonight, Mr Mehrez said the temperature will be high tonight, ranging between 30 and 35 degrees and up to 38 in the southwest.
He furthermore emphasised the extreme vigilance over the heatwave that will continue till the end of the week.
“Stay out of the sun and shadow from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated,” he recommended.
