The border post of Ras Jedir encountered a tragedy that suspended its activities last night. A customs agent was assailed by a smuggler when he attempted to prevent him from smuggling cigarettes.
The smuggler poured him gasoline and tried to burn him alive.
The agent was carried to the hospital where he was hospitalized in a state of emotional shock, and he had no burns, but the corrosive effects of the gasoline in his eyes.
Traffic at the level of the passage was able to resume, in a normal way, this Sunday morning.
