Tunisia-Biography of new prime minister-designate Hichem Mechichi

President Kais Saied on Saturday instructed Hichem Mechichi, current Minister of the Interior, to form a new government.

Biography of the new prime minister-designate:

Born in  1974, he was appointed by President Kaïs Saïed as his first advisor in charge of Legal Affairs on February 11, 2020, and later was appointed as interior minister in the government of Elyes Fakhfakh.

He holds a degree in law from the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences of Tunis, an End of Cycle Certificate from the National School of Administration (ENA) of Tunis and a Master in Public Administration of the National School of Administration in Strasbourg. He also held the post of Chief of Staff in the Ministries of Transport, Health and Social Affairs.

 

He was then Director-General of the National Agency for the Sanitary and Environmental Control of Products.
