Tunisia-Bizerte Ciments : suspension of maritime traffic at Bizerte port lowers company’s turnover by 33%

The Société les Ciments de Bizerte has just issued its activity indicators connecting to the third quarter of the current year. The company reported that its local turnover during the third quarter of 2023 declined by -11,408,460 dinars, or -32.81% compared to the same period of 2022, moving from 34,766,487TND to 23,358,027 dinars in 2023.

“The entire turnover of the company during the 3rd quarter of 2023 witnessed a decrease of 11,408,460 dinars, i.e. – 33.22% following the absence of exports resulting from the incident that happened at the Bizerte mobile bridge which caused a suspension of maritime traffic at the port of Bizerte,” specifies the company.

Similarly, demand for binders on the local market continued to fall for the entire sector and for society. The breakdown of the mobile bridge affected the company’s import of unique calorific energy petroleum coke and revenues from the unloading of petroleum coke for companies in the sector.

Despite the suspension of maritime traffic at the port of Bizerte caused by the breakdown of the movable bridge since July 26, 2023 and during the 3rd quarter of 2023, the activity of emptying petroleum coke ships generated revenue outside tax of 852,023 DT, following the unloading of four ships with a total quantity of 71,000 tonnes.
