The vice-president of the parliament, in charge of public administration, Fadhel Ben Turkia, said that the Assembly had requested the government 50 million dinars as budgetary appropriations for the year 2024 to improve the work of Parliament, but the Ministry of Finance only gave them 38.553 million dinars.
This represents an austerity budget which will not permit the House to increase the estimated salaries of representatives, to 2,350 dinars, in addition to a housing allowance of 900 dinars, or one thousand dinars. The allocation has been approved for the months of October, November and December, which the MPs have not yet received.
Ben Turkia added that the Ministry of Finance reported that, on the instructions of the President of the Republic, there will be no purchase of administrative news for the year 2024.
