Tunisia-Cap Bon: Olive production in decline

President of the local Union of Agriculture and Fisheries (UTAP) in Bouargouba Sami Houidi told Tunisie Numérique correspondent that the olive harvest suffered a decline of 10% compared to last year due to climate change, particularly drought and low rain.

This year’s production is estimated at 58 thousand tonnes, equal to 11 thousand tonnes of olive oil, Houidi said.

Our speaker added that professionals in the sector will opt for the valorization of vegetable waters to protect the environment.
