Tunisia-Chamber of Butchers calls on President of Republic to take this measure to increase pressure on prices of imported red meat [Video]

In preparation for the holy month of Ramadan, the head of the Butchers’ Chamber Ahmed Amiri confirmed today that high-quality refrigerated red meat will be imported from France due to a national production shortage.

Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, he clarified that coordination had emerged among various concerned authorities, including the Ministry of Commerce, the Chamber of Wholesalers, the Chamber of Detail Merchants, some red meat supplying companies, and the Meat Company. It was agreed to supply sufficient quantities of red meat to meet the needs of Ramadan and stabilize the market.

Concerning the prices of these refrigerated meats, the revealed that they would vary from 35,600 millimes for “habra” to 22 dinars for “sadra.” He revealed that the delay in making the supply decision had caused an upsurge in prices, which could have reached as high as approximately 33 dinars.

He also declared the launch of an initiative by the National Chamber, calling on all regional chambers to coordinate with butchers to supply this meat at reasonable prices, aiming to exercise downward pressure on prices in the Tunisian market.

In the same vein, the head of the Butchers’ Chamber appealed to the President of the Republic to eliminate the 5% customs tax during Ramadan. This measure seeks to further decrease prices and achieve a selling price decrease of about two dinars, making the price of one kilogram approximately 33,600 millimes.
