Twenty-six civil society associations and more than one hundred national figures asked, this Friday, January 22, 2021, to sanction as quickly as possible the severe infringements registered during the 2019 electoral campaign and to fulfil the recommendations, stated in the report of the Court of Auditors.
They additionally call for the organization of partial legislative elections to substitute “illegitimate deputies”. This is what appears from an open letter published today and directed to the President of the Court of Auditors and the Public Prosecutor.
According to them, violations form an”electoral crimes”, likely to lead to the removal of the capacity of dozens of parliamentarians, as well as to penalties fixed by law on the basis of the report of the Court of Auditors.
In this report on the results of the controls on the financing of the early presidential election campaign and the 2019 legislative elections, published in early November 2020, the Court of Auditors numerous violations and irregularities that infected the financing of the nominees’ campaign and political parties.
These irregularities associate to the non-disclosure of funding sources, the use of suspicious and undeclared money in election campaigns and the failure to comply with the provisions of the decree-law on the organization of political parties.
