COVID-19 updates in Tunisia:

The death tally from COVID-19 surpassed 9000 after Health authorities recorded 1866 new cases and 46 deaths, bringing the infection and death tally to 263.043 and 9.039 respectively.

In the same context, hospitals are reaching points of saturation in ICU beds as 14 people lost their lives due to the lack of ICU beds in Rabta hospital.

On the level of vaccinations, the injection of the second dose has begun for health workers and those over the age of 75.

On the question of lockdown, prime minister Hichem Mechichi said there is no question of imposing a new general lockdown, given the severe social and economic situation facing the country.

President Kais Saied visits Mausoleum of Habib Bourguiba

 President Kais Saied travelled to Monastir this Tuesday, April 6 to commemorate the 21st anniversary of the death of the late President Habib Bourguiba. Speaking at a ceremony, the head of the state rejected «attempts made by some parties to put in place tailor-made laws” so as to “settle scores,» reiterating his abidance by the Constitution that grants him the right to object “even for political reasons”.

Moez Chakchouk: Tunisair will provide around 1,405 flights this summer

During a hearing of the Tunisian Foreign Affairs Committee in Parliament on Monday, April 5, 2021, Transport Minister Moez Chakchouk confirmed that Tunisair currently has approximately 7 aircraft in operation.

Chakchouk stated the development of a special program to give about 775 return flights with nearly 120,000 seats, during the period July 1 to August 1, 2021.

Tarek Ftiti: No one stopped escort agents from accessing Bardo Palace

The second deputy Speaker of The House of People’s Representatives “HPR” Tarak Ftiti dismissed that the parliamentary office had taken any decision to prevent the security escort from accompanying MPs inside Bardo Palace. .The issue was raised by MP Fayçal Tebbini

However, the latter has published a document approved on April 2, 2021, by house speaker Rached Ghannouchi confirming that the latter prevented the escort agents who accompany certain MPs from entering the palace of the Bardo.

Belgacem Hassen: Kais Saied has become an obstacle

Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, Eannadha MP Belgacem Hassen stated he had nothing against the President’s response as it is a constitutionally guaranteed right. Concerning the content of the famous letters, he stressed that for lack of legal skills allowing him to take decisions, the latter has become “an obstacle” before all attempts to get things done.
