Tunisia-Decree-116: President Saïed warns against violation of the Constitution

President of the Republic Kais SAIED insisted, this Tuesday, October 20, 2020, during his meeting with Ali Hafsi, Minister to the Head of Government in charge of relations with the parliament on the seriousness of the violation of the Constitution by proposing the amendment of Legislative Decree 116 of 2011.

An amendment subject to partisan calculations and to political and media lobbies. This is contrary to the rules of the Constitution, assured the President of the Republic.

The head of state said he is keen to guarantee freedom of the media and of expression. He added that he is alongside honest journalists and that he is for the establishment of self-regulatory structures capable of developing the audiovisual landscape in Tunisia. A pluralistic and diverse landscape subject to the rules of the law and which in no way affects national security.
