Members of the democratic bloc have sent a request to the Supreme Council of the Judiciary (CSM), in which they asked for the removal of magistrate Taïeb Rached from his position as a member of the Council.
They also filed a challenge against him in his position as president of the Constitutional Review Authority. Magistrate Taïeb Rached additionally serves as First President of the Court of Cassation. At a press conference held Tuesday in parliament, member of the democratic bloc Samia Abbou urged removing the magistrate from his duties over “his absence of impartiality and competence”. Abbou asked for the suspension of work of the constitutional review authority and to extend the time limits for the consideration of appeals, until Taïeb Rached resigns from his functions as head of the authority.
