Tunisia- Democratic bloc: “What unites coalition in power is government’s contractual document”

“What brings the components of the ruling coalition together is the government’s contract document. This does not exclude the difference between the political parties that make it up,” said Hichem Ajbouni, president of the democratic bloc and leader of the Democratic Current Party (Attayar),the TAP reported.

In a statement on Thursday to TAP, on the sidelines of the plenary session devoted to dialogue with the Prime Minister, on the occasion of the 100 days of government, Ajbouni said that “this coalition is able to resist, especially since the government action has just effectively started today, after overcoming the Coronavirus pandemic”.

Ajbouni also criticised Ennahdha movement’s attempts to broaden the ruling coalition to include the Qalb Tounes party.

“This has no basis as the parties in the ruling coalition have come together on the basis of political convergence and a work programme,” he argued.

In his view, the components of the ruling coalition must put the public interest first and focus on the difficult economic and social situation the country is going through.
