The Defense Committee of Mehdi Ben Gharbia stressed in a press release published today, December 10, 2021, that the state of health of their client has seriously declined, to the extent where the civil prison administration of Messaadine declined to let one of his attorneys meet him.
“One of his attorneys moved to Messaadine jail at 1.30 pm where he was misled by telling him of the transfer of his client (Ben Gharbia) to the hospital (…) It then turned out that ‘He was not moved anywhere and was inside the jail all day. It has been established to the Defense Committee that the state of health of our client is extremely severe due to the hunger strike he has been leading since November 5, 2021 “, the press release read.
Correspondingly, the committee asserted that his lawyer tried to visit him again after it was proved that Ben Gharbia was in prison at about 4:50 p.m., but he was stopped from doing so on the grounds that he had surpassed the hours of visit.
As such, the defence committee of Mehdi Ben Gharbia cautioned of the serious deterioration in his state of health, risking his life. It attributes complete responsibility for anything that may happen to him to all the bodies embodied particularly in the prosecution, the Ministry of Justice (prison administration).
