Tunisia – “Douz high school threatens to collapse”

The Basic Union of Secondary Education of Douz Nord confirmed, in a press release that “the Douz High School and its pillars are collapsing, which endangers the safety of students and all its workers”.

The union revealed the closure of 11 rooms this year, highlighting that the Regional Education Delegation had been notified of the seriousness of the situation, due to the dilapidation of the high school building and the cracking of the walls and ceilings of its rooms, and demanded the construction of a new building worthy of the establishment in collaboration with the delegation’s services. This since the 2016/2017 school year.

The Douz Nord Basic Secondary Education Union held the Supervisory Authority and the Regional Education Delegation responsible for any material or moral damage that could occur to the educational framework or to the students, within the establishment. It also held them responsible for taking critical decisions and measures to ensure public safety and the smooth running of classes in good conditions for the rest of the school year.
