The City emphasised that the Office of Fatwa of the Tunisian Republic remains the sole authority authorized to announce the beginning of the months of the Hegira and religious events.

The City of Sciences of Tunis revealed that for Tunisia, according to astronomy calculations, the crescent will be seen next Monday, April 8, corresponding to the 29th of Ramadan, when the sun sets at 6:49 p.m. and the moon at 6:42 p.m., and the moon will, then, be 13 degrees below the horizon, and consequently It is impossible to see the crescent of Shawwal, and it will probably be on Tuesday April 9, 2024, completing the month of Ramadan 1445.

The City of Sciences underscored that for Islamic countries which have adopted the start of the month of Ramadan on March 11, 2024, the day of observation of the Shawwal crescent, corresponding to Ramadan 29, 1445, will be Monday, April 8, 2024, and being given the impossibility of seeing the crescent on that day due to the moon setting before the sun and the conjunction occurring after sunset, Tuesday April 9, 2024, will end the month of Ramadan 1445, and hence the Wednesday April 10, 2024 will complete the month of Ramadan 1445.
