The dean of engineers Kamel Sahnoun ensured on Wednesday that the strike led by engineers in public institutions is legitimate, adding that the union will not permit its members to be harmed. He announced the union will give the government a week to react favourably to their demands before escalating.
Sahnoun stated there is a discussion of removing engineers from the Sousse power plant, and no longer maintaining it. This will deprive a good part of Tunisians of electricity, particularly at the time of peak consumption in summer.
He added that the state that declines to respond to the demands of engineers will only have to buy electricity from other countries.
