Tunisia-Ennahdha warns against Kaïs Saïed’s attempts to pressure justice

Ennahdha party criticized, in a press release published this Friday, October 29, 2021, the “hegemonic power” of the president of the republic Kaïs Saïed, after his suspension of the constitution and Parliament, and his “try to seize justice while speaking speeches calling for hatred and division ”.
In its statement, Ennahdha warned against “repeated tries by the head of state to put pressure on the judiciary and its institutions and in particular the Supreme Judicial Council. It, furthermore, emphasised its rejection of the pressures exerted on those expressing a contrary opinion and the instrumentalization of certain regulatory institutions in order to threaten the freedom of expression, citing here the examples of the closures of the Nessma channels and Hannibal Tv and the Holy Quran Radio.
On the other hand, Ennahdha condemned the “violent aggression” experienced by party coordinator Seifeddine Rezgueni, “physically and verbally assaulted and threatened with death by an individual posing as a supporter of Kais Saïed”.
