Tunisia-Farid Olaibi shares insight into repercussions of rise of the extreme right in some European countries, most recent of which is France [Video]

Speaking with Tunisie Numérique, thinker and political analyst Farid Olaibi shared his insight on the rise of the extreme right in some European countries in recent years, the most recent of which is France. This political event was viewed by a large number of observers of international affairs to be a political tremor that pushed President Emmanuel Macron to announce the dissolution of Parliament…

Olabi noted that the rise of the far right in the recent European elections was not a shock but rather reflects a phenomenon that has been growing over the years. This trend has led to the rule of the extreme right in some European countries, not just their success in the European Parliament elections. C

urrently, the far right rules in Italy and Hungary, and Marine Le Pen has declared her readiness to rule France and form a government.

Olaibi added that the rise of the far right is proof that the deep state in European countries is ready to substitute liberal parties with patriotic and nationalist parties, and it is clear proof that liberal democracy is no longer able to rule European countries.

Concerning the geopolitical repercussions of these political events at the level of the EU, he emphasised that they may be important, particularly regarding immigrants, and economic protectionism, meaning that these countries may decrease the volume of their multiple and diverse imports, and they may be the primary beneficiaries of this change. It is the antipole to America and the European Union, and it is the Sino-American axis. The speaker added on this point that the United States itself may be concerned with the rise of the right as well as Trump’s return to power.

As for Tunisia, it is also likely that it will profit from the rise of the extreme right in these elections, especially in light of the policy followed by it, which is generally its prioritization of national interests and non-interference in the affairs of other nations, such as its position on the war in Ukraine and before that the war in Iraq.
