Tunisia-Fire at Ennahdha headquarters: 18 injured, according to Interior Ministry

The Interior Ministry revealed today that it was informed at 2:24 p.m. of a fire that broke out at the headquarters of the Ennahdha party in Montplaisir. The department said that the operations room of the National Civil Protection Office and the security forces have been reached to make the required interventions.

 

The director-general of the national civil protection office visited the scene to oversee the relief operations. According to preliminary information, a charred corpse was discovered in the headquarters. Originally from Ettahrir city, the 51-year-old acted as a reception agent at the party headquarters.

“The fire was brought under control and those at the scene were saved. 18 injured were transferred for treatment, 16 of them suffering from suffocation. Another person suffered burns while another had numerous fractures, ”the statement read.

The investigation will continue in cooperation with the prosecution to uncover the true version of events.
