Tunisia-FM Jerandi on a working visit to New York from July 14 to 17

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Othman Jerandi will pay a a working visit to New York in the United States from July 14th to 17th.
According to a statement released Tuesday evening by the Foreign Affairs Department, Jerandi will partake, during the visit, in a special high-level meeting which will take place on Thursday on the political process in Libya.
As part of Tunisia’s seat on the Security Council as a non-permanent member, this visit is dedicated to monitoring progress in the situation in Libya in the light of the road map emerging from the Forum of Libyan political dialogue which took place in Tunis in November 2020.
It is likewise a chance to review the results of the Dialogue Forum, in terms of the organization of electoral deadlines at the conclusion of the year, respect for the ceasefire and the evacuation of foreign fighters and mercenaries, adds the same source.
In addition, Jerandi will take part in another high-level meeting on “the protection of humanitarian space”. It will be devoted to exploring the means to strengthen respect for the provisions of international humanitarian law at the national, regional and international levels.
As part of the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the creation of the UN Economic and Social Council, the Minister will join, on July 16, a High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development.
Jerandi will hold, during this visit to New York, a set of bilateral meetings with his counterparts from brotherly and friendly countries as well as with the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and other UN officials
