For the first time in Tunisia, a medical team under the supervision of the chief of cardiothoracic surgery Dr.Sofien Jerbi and Professor Chokri Kartass successfully performed an open-heart surgery on a baby measuring 3.5 Kilos at CHU Sahloul university hospital. The baby suffered from a malformation in the heart.
The surgery is the first of its Kind in Tunisia as it was performed in a public hospital with Tunisian surgeons leading. In a statement to Mosaique FM,Dr Sofiane Jerbi said that the surgery lasted 4 hours, indicating that despite its complexity and accuracy, especially for children and infants, it was a success. The baby condition is stable.
