Human rights activist and former MP Ali Ben Salem passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2023, aged 92.
Dean of human rights activists, Ben Salem campaigned against French colonization and opposed the regimes of Bourguiba and Ben Ali.
Ali Ben Salem is best known for having been one of the founders of the Tunisian League for Human Rights in 1977 and co-founder of the National Council for Freedoms of Tunisia and the Association for the Fight against Torture.
