Tunisia-President Saïed: ”Bread is a red line for Tunisians”

President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, met with prime minister Najla Bouden and the Minister of Finance, Sihem Boughdiri Namsia this Thursday, July 27.

This meeting was an opportunity to shed light on a series of economic and social issues, especially the problem of bread shortage as well as the legislative framework concerning bakeries.

Among the topics discussed was the necessity for a “purification” of the administration, focusing specifically on elements that oppose the demands of the people and hinder reform projects.

Some justify these hindrances by relying on dubious interpretations of regulatory texts, aimed at thwarting any improvement project.
The President of the Republic emphasised that “the administration is responsible for serving the citizens in complete impartiality”.

Kais Saied also called for urgent measures to overcome the current bread crisis, underscoring that “bread is a red line for Tunisians”.

In the same vein, the President of the Republic warned that “the increase in prices is planned to aggravate the situation, but the people are aware that it is an intentional process”.
