Tunisia-Grombalia (Nabeul): winter of thirst in village of 500 families dry and without drinking water since summer

In Beni Ayech, a village within the Grombalia delegation in the Nabeul governorate, around 500 families have been enduring a tough water scarcity, lacking access to drinking water for seven months. These families are not linked to the water supply and distribution networks of the National Water Distribution Utility (Sonede). This situation was underscored today by the Tunisian Forum for Economic and Social Rights (FTDES), which has voiced its solidarity with the affected residents of the village.

Despite numerous appeals to Sonede for aid, these families have had to rely on water supplied by tanker trucks. These trucks, originating from neighbouring delegations approximately 7 kilometres away, navigate via the village to deliver water to the residents. This method of water supply highlights the critical necessity for sustainable solutions to address the water scarcity plaguing the inhabitants of Beni Ayech.
