Member of the Scientific Committee for the Fight against the coronavirus (COVID-19) Habib Ghédira warned that Tunisia will face, during the upcoming autumn and winter period, which represents a favourable time during which the seasonal flu spreads, an increased risk of the return of COVID-19. He emphasised that the similarity of symptoms of these diseases will make it more difficult for the hospital to accommodate those infected with it and the possibility of the health system of breaking down.
He stated that hospitals will be called upon to provide isolation for those infected with these diseases, considering that the state of complacency, negligence and non-compliance with safety rules will have negative repercussions on the epidemiological situation in the country.
He called on citizens to the necessity of carrying out vaccinations related to influenza, especially for the vulnerable groups, such as those with chronic diseases, the elderly and others.
