Monastir Mayor Mundhir Marzouk demanded the necessity to assist the human capabilities of medical and semi-medical workers at Fattouma Bourguiba University Hospital, in addition to providing the necessary equipment and protection requirements for the medical and paramedical workforce in the region.
He clarified that the component of civil society in Monastir organized in the Municipality headquarters where they expressed fear over the progress of the epidemiological situation and the spread of COVID-19, as they considered that the ICU unit at Fattouma Bourguiba Hospital does not meet the minimum requirements which will allow it absorb to a large number of COVID patients.
The same source pointed out that ICU units lack the medical and paramedical workers, Machines and protective means that will qualify the hospital to keep up with the virus spread and the increase of cases, urging the health ministry to provide the aforementioned materials, especially since the region is hosting the Monastir COVID-19 centre.
