Tunisia-Interior minister gives details of Noureddine Bhiri case

Interior Minister Taoufik Charfeddine held a press briefing on Monday, January 3, 2022, to address the house arrest of Noureddine Bhiri. He confirmed that the press conference was to be held in a few days, but that it had been brought forward after the development of events and tries to implicate the security institution in the political conflicts.
At first, the interior minister stated no tolerance would be permitted with those who try to revert the interior ministry to old practices. “Now, concerning the house arrest decisions, I desire to clarify that they were taken on December 30, 2021, and they were executed the next day. And as you know, house arrest can be decided even on suspicion, what if they are based on records? ”.
Interior Minister added, “The case involves the unlawful granting of passports and nationality certificates to people whom I will not name. I will let the forensic inquiries disclose their identities and family connections, and I assure you there will be a lot of surprises. “
