Tunisia: ISIE Council suggests delaying the referendum

The Council of the Independent High Authority for Elections (ISIE) suggested this Friday, May 27, 2022, to delay the validation of the referendum schedule and to stay in meeting for a period of 48 hours before the beginning of the operation of registration of voters on the electoral lists.
The ISIE has likewise decided to request to meet the President of the Republic since he holds the legislative power. The purpose is to examine a set of vague legal points in association with the referendum, such as the amendment of the electoral law to permit remote registration and electronic registration of voters. This should permit a greater number of citizens to exercise their electoral rights, Mosaique FM reported.
