The Ministry of foreign affairs declared that under the directions of President of the republic Kais Saied, Tunisia, as an Arab member of the UN Security Council, asked in coordination with the Palestinian side and backed by China, the current President of the Council, Norway, Ireland, Vietnam, Saint Vincent, The Grenadines and Niger, the holding of a session on Monday, May 10, 2021.
This session will be dedicated to deliberate the dangerous and aggressive escalated practices of the occupation authorities in the occupied Palestinian territories, especially in Jerusalem, and their renewed assaults on Al-Aqsa Mosque.
According to the statement, Tunisia’s decision is in line with its solid stand to stand alongside the brotherly Palestinian people in their struggle to reclaim their legitimate rights in many regional and international forums to establish their independent state with Al-Quds as its capital and “to establish a comprehensive peace” in the region.
This initiative is additionally part of Tunisia’s desire to renew its repeated appeals to the international community to shoulder its responsibilities in the face of this ongoing grievance and to end aggression on the Palestinian lands.
