The community of “Awled Marzouk” (Kasserine Governorate) saw clashes between some citizens and agents of the national army. The demonstrators sought to storm the headquarters of the Société de Service du Gazoduc Transtunisien (Sergaz), which controls the natural gas pipelines crossing the country.
The Defense Ministry declared the protesters were stopped by the military from accessing the company’s headquarters. Nevertheless, some protesters began throwing stones and Molotov cocktails at the soldiers, wounding four of them.
The agents were obliged to fire shots in the air to disperse the demonstrators, according to the same source who pointed out that Sergaz’s headquarters and the pumping station are positioned in a military zone and that the presence of citizens on the premises is strictly prohibited.
